This year’s draft may seem to be all about Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel… and yeah, it kind of is.
But there are a lot of other things to keep an eye on this weekend beyond just those two phenoms, as the next generation of NHLers step up to the stage, get their new jerseys and take the awkward pictures that will haunt them the rest of their career.
For the Caps, the excitement (at least for now) gets underway at pick #22, the first time in franchise history that the team has picked at that particular spot in the draft order (although they’ve done a fair bit of damage, in every sense of the word, over the years when picking right around there).
Who will be the next Caps’ hopeful? Will there be any trades to announce? Will the attendees make it through the whole weekend under the hot Florida sun without melting into one giant puddle? Only one way to find out!
