ARLINGTON, VA. – The Washington Capitals, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, today announced the club’s home opener will be on Saturday, Oct. 10, vs. the New Jersey Devils. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The complete 2015-16 NHL schedule will be released tomorrow.

The Capitals are 6-1-1 all-time in season openers at Verizon Center. Washington posted a 4-1-0 record against New Jersey last season and outscored the Devils 17-6. Nicklas Backstrom led the Capitals with five points (3g, 2a) in five games against New Jersey in 2014-15 and Braden Holtby posted a 4-1-0 record with one shutout, a 1.20 goals-against average and a .958 save percentage against the Devils last season.
