The Noon Number: Home Ice Advantage?

12 – Consecutive playoff games the Caps have played at Madison Square Garden in which they haven’t had more power play opportunities than the host Rangers. The last time Washington had more chances with the extra man in New York than New York was April 22, 2009; since then, the Rangers have had more power plays in nine games (and the same amount of extra-man opportunities in three), and have had an overall power-play advantage of 57 to 29 over the visiting Caps.

(And, since you’re wondering, over that same span, the Caps hold a 37-35 advantage in power play opportunities in playoff games between the two teams at Verizon Center, and a five-to-four edge in games with more power plays, with a pair of other equal matches.)
