A look at Washington's uneven strengths

106.4 - The Capitals' combined power-play and penalty kill percentages, best in the NHL, thanks to the top-rated power play (24.4% efficient) and the League's 12th-best penalty kill (82.0%).

Despite that gaudy number, the Caps rank fourth in special teams goal differential at plus-ten (55 power-play goals-for, 45 power-play goals-against and four shorthanded goals-for and -against), due to relatively few power-play opportunities (22nd in the League) and a lot of shorthanded opportunities (10th-most).

The Caps will take their impressive Special Teams Index (and a five-game streak of spotless penalty-killing) into Montreal to face the Habs tonight.
