Earlier today the Caps recalled goaltender Philipp Grubauer from Hershey and he’s expected to get the nod in net tonight in front of a set of lines and defensive pairings that won’t look like this (which is what they looked like last night)… because Andre Burakovsky has been assigned to Hershey to make the Grubauer transaction work:
Alex Ovechkin – Nicklas Backstrom – Marcus Johansson
Andre Burakovsky– Evgeny Kuznetsov – Troy Brouwer
Brooks Laich – Eric Fehr – Joel Ward
Jason Chimera – Jay Beagle – Tom Wilson
What will the lines look like? Who knows. But presumably Justin Peters will be a healthy scratch, Braden Holtby will back-up Grubauer, and at least one of Michael Latta or Aaron Volpatti will draw in up front, and possibly Cameron Schilling on the blueline. Dmitry Orlov and John Erskine are still on the IR. Got it?
