A look at how the Caps have been able to give themselves a chance to win on most nights

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

7 - Number of games the Capitals have lost by more than one goal this season, fewest in the League (Nashville has the second-fewest losses by two or more with nine).

Of note, all but four teams have lost as many games by three or more goals as the Caps have lost by two or more, led by Buffalo's 22 losses by at least three.

Here's a list of the Caps' seven multi-goal losses:

Date Opponent Score
October 26 at Vancouver 2-4*
October 29 Detroit 2-4
November 15 at St. Louis 1-4
November 29 at Toronto 2-6
December 23 at N.Y. Rangers 2-4
February 8 Philadelphia 1-3*
February 14 at Los Angeles 1-3

* Includes an empty net goal-against.

Unsurprisingly in light of the above, the Caps' 38 one-goal decisions are the most in the League.
