The second period highlight for the Caps was at the other end as the penalty killers took their turn in the spotlight.

The penalty killers skated off a Carolina power play early in the second period, 38 seconds of which was a 5-on-3 disadvantage for the good guys. They came out of it unblemished and now we go to the third period with the Caps nursing a one-goal lead.
