The Washington Capitals skated for the second night in a row, looking to snap their four-game losing streak against the rival Penguins, also on their second of back-to-backs. Badly needing to end the losing streak, and change their fortunes on the second night of back-to-backs, Alex Ovechkin led the way to a commanding 4-0 victory with a pair of goals in what started and ended as a chippy affair.

  • Plus: Alex Ovechkin. He’s been hot, even through the recent slump, and he kept it up tonight with a pair of goals. The first wasn’t how you’d expect it to come – a deflection off a Karl Alzner point shot. The second was exactly what you’d expect, but don’t sleep on the amazing work by Nicklas Backstrom and Mike Green on the passing. They created passing lanes and forced the Penguins penalty killers to commit, leaving Ovechkin an open net to shoot at.
  • Minus: They didn’t win by more.
