With Brooks Orpik a game-time decision and no morning skate, the Caps’ lineup for today’s Winter Classic is up in the air a bit, but here’s how the Caps’ lines and pairings looked at practice yesterday:
Alex Ovechkin – Nicklas Backstrom – Jay Beagle
Marcus Johansson – Andre Burakovsky/Evgeny Kuznetsov – Troy Brouwer
Brooks Laich – Eric Fehr – Joel Ward
Jason Chimera – Michael Latta – Tom Wilson
That leaves Justin Peters backing up Holtby, one of Kuznetsov and Burakovsky as healthy scratches (and Schmidt, likely, if Orpik plays), and Dmitry Orlov, John Erskine and Aaron Volpatti still on the IR with Orpik possibly out with a shorter-term injury. Got it?
