Counting down the days until the 2014-15 season with a look at the lack of scoring from the Caps' blueline

13 - Number of days remaining until the Caps open the 2014-15 season. But it's also...

...the number of goals scored by Caps' defensemen not named John Carlson and Mike Green in 2013-14. All told, the blueline scored 32 goals last season, but 19 of those came off the stick of either Carlson (10) or Green (9). Eight other defensemen scored at least once in 2013-14, but none scored more than three goals (and only Dmitry Orlov managed to hit that mark).
