Counting down the days until the 2014-15 season with a look at Karl Alzner's helpful nature

16 - Number of days remaining until the Caps open the 2014-15 season. But it's also...

...the number of assists for Karl Alzner in 2013-14. He tied his career high in that department, matching the 16 helpers he picked up in 2011-12, and set a new career-high in points with 18. Not a mind-blowing total by any stretch, but good enough for third-most points among Caps' defensemen... a mere 19 points (and 11 assists) behind second-place John Carlson's 37.
