20 - Number of days remaining until the Caps open the 2014-15 season. But it's also...
...the Capitals' rank in 2013-14 in winning percentage when scoring the game's first goal, checking in at just under 67% (28 wins in 42 games). They weren't any better when giving up the first goal ("better" being a relative term when talking about getting scored on), winning just 10 of the 40 games where they fell behind; that 25% winning percentage dropping them to 23rd in the League.
That's probably not all that surprising, considering their overall record and performance last season. What is a bit surprising is the fact that they actually were in the top third of the League in win percentage when trailing after one period (27.6%, 10th) and two periods (20.6%, 9th). It's even more surprising when you consider that they were actually among the League's worst when leading after two.
Quite the enigmatic bunch, those 2013-14 Caps.
