TOSSED OTT (1)
Earlier this year, little Braden Nienaber got to spend a few days with the Caps – he skated at their practice rink, he dropped the gloves with Tom Wilson, and he got to live out his dream of putting some pucks past his hero, Braden Holtby.
But the best part was when he took to center ice at Verizon Center and lived out a dream all of us have had… he tossed well-known pest (and great sport) Steve Ott out on his rump. Lucky kid.
OVECHKIN JUGGLES THE PUCK (4)
The Caps’ defeat of Montreal at the end of January snapped a seven-game winless streak, and did so in commanding, and at times bizarre, fashion. When you consider that John Erskine had one of the five goals on that fateful evening… yeah. Bizarre doesn’t even begin to describe it.
But while Erskine’s goal was, er, special, none of the Caps’ tallies were quite as interesting as this deft little hand-eye coordination by the captain to kick off the scoring. Just add “juggling” to the lengthy list of things Alex Ovechkin does well.
