Apparently, the South Street Swap Meet was open for business this Draft.

(Ed. note: With the draft complete, here is a quick roundup of the Caps' 2014 picks and trades.  We'll have the full Clips treatment for you tomorrow.)

  • With the 13th pick in the NHL Draft, the Caps selected Czech LW Jakub Vrana. [Rink]
  • With the 44th pick in the NHL Draft, the Caps opted to trade that pick along with the 74th (third round) pick to Buffalo in order to move up to acquire BUF's 39th pick and selected Czech goalie Vitek Vanacek. [Rink]
  • The Caps then flipped both of their fourth round picks to the Rangers in order to move back up into the third round, where they selected Australia's most famous ice hockey player, Nathan Walker. [news.com.au]
  • In the fifth round, the team picked up American C/LW Shane Gersich. [NHL,com]
  • With a swap of sixth round picks and a pot-sweetening 7th round pick for next year's draft, the Caps acquired the rights to RFA goalie Eddie Pasquale from Winnipeg. [Patriot-News]

  • And Swedish RW Kevin Elgestad was the Caps' sixth and final selection.
