    • Congrats to Troy Brouwer as he recorded his 200th NHL point with his goal in the third period. Jason Chimera’s 300th point will just have to wait. [Caps OT, CSNW (video)]
    • Wakey wakey, Caps.Someone go hide the snooze button, preferably prior to the third period of the next game. [WaPo]
    • Claude Giroux is too beaucoup. Via Elias: Claude Giroux scored two goals for the Flyers in their 6-4 win over the Capitals in Philadelphia on Wednesday, after doing the same when the Flyers won in overtime at Washington on Sunday. Giroux scored only one goal in his first seven career games against the Capitals but he’s recorded 12 goals in 14 games versus Washington since then (Nov. 20, 2010 to date). Giroux’s 12 goals against the Capitals over the last four seasons are the most by any NHL player. The only other player with more than eight goals versus Washington over the same span is Evander Kane (10).
  • Previews of tonight’s bash with the Bruins from Vogs and NHL.com, and be sure to check out our SB Nation pals over at Stanley Cup of Chowder for the other side of tonight’s matchup.
    • Bruins forward Adam McQuaid has a case of the Chimera flu quad strain and will miss tonight’s game, plus 2-3 weeks after that. [ESPN]

  • Trade deadline report cards – there’s something for everyone:

  • Finally, it is entirely possible that yesterday’s best Washington hockey was played at Kettler where Team Lawmakers defeated Team Lobbyists 7-5 in the 6th annual Congressional Hockey Classic. This years’ tilt was notable for the presence of the NHL Commissioner, the executive director of USA Hockey, and the CEO of Bauer in the stands and, for the first time, Canadian MPs in the Lawmakers lineup.
