Sunday Caps Clips: 800 for 8; Flyers @ Caps Game Day

Your savory breakfast links:

  • Recaps and other assorted musings on yesterday’s win from us, Vogs, Monumental video (Oates, Ovechkin, Holtby, Ward, Alzner), NHL.com, WaPo (and again), CSNW, Peerless, Frankovic, DSP, RMNB, and from the TD Gardens penalty box, CSNNE (and again), SCoC, and Hockey Independent.
    • Congratulations, captain. With his second (and oh-so-powerful) power-play goal, Alex Ovechkin became the 150th member of the NHL’s 800-points club. [NHL.com, WaPo, CSNW, CV (audio), PHT, RMNB]
    • Per Elias: Alex Ovechkin scored the first two goals in the Capitals‘ 4-2 win over the Bruins in Boston. Ovechkin’s second goal was the 800th point of his NHL career and he recorded it in his 658th regular-season game. The only other active players who reached the 800-point mark in fewer than 700 games are Jaromir Jagr (626) and Teemu Selanne (636).
    • Too bad his coach isn’t particularly impressed. [RMNB]
    • Questions, answered. [CSNW]
  • Previews of today’s bash with the Bullies from Vogs, Peerless, and NHL.com, and be sure to check out our SB Nation pals over at Broad Street Hockey for the other side of tonight’s matchup.
    • Celebrity watch – The arrivals terminal at National Airport had at least one plane from California yesterday. [Daily Mail]
  • Dear Washington Nationals – your Thompson Creek Window of Opportunity™ is pretty much now. Please to be learning from the Caps’ experiences. [WaPo]
  • Temper, temper. Managing expectations for the possibly-probable-eventual-arrival-of Evgeny Kuznetsov. [WaPo]
  • The Bears are suddenly slumpy-slumpy. [Patriot-News (and again)]
  • Checking in on the Caps’ prospect players. [THW]
  • Finally, happy 33rd birthday to Brian Fahey.
