The Capitals played a solid game, first minute to last, in beating the New Jersey Devils, 4-1. The Caps got goals from four different players and had one of their most complete performances of the season to date. Look for our full recap later, but first, Saturday night’s Plus/Minus:

Plus/Minus:

  • Plus: Braden Holtby. The Caps’ net minder was sharp from the get-go and consistently so for all 60 minutes. The lone goal was a bit of a fluke, a shot that popped up over his shoulder that was swatted in out of mid-air by Patrik Elias. Otherwise, he was a wall. In his last 12 appearances, Holtby is 7-4-1, 2.11, .930.
  • Minus: Top line. The Nicklas Backstrom – Alex Ovechkin – Tom Wilson line was sluggish on offense. Ovechkin did not record his first shot on goal until 52:25 elapsed in the game; Tom Wilson had no shot attempts. It was a night when the undercard picked up the headliners.
