It was a brutal game to watch for 65 minutes as neither team could get anything close to a rhythm, but  the shootout packed a lot of drama into twenty -- yes, twenty -- rounds as the Caps dropped a 2-1 decision to the Panthers.  Look for our full recap later, but first, Tuesday night's Plus/Minus:

  • Plus: Patience.  Playing against a team that wants to make it a station-to-station game carries the risk of trying to force things, which often result in bad turnovers and opportunistic goals.  The Caps largely avoided that temptation and limited the Panthers' chances by displaying patience.
  • Minus: The Wall.  Florida owned the wall in the five feet outside to five feet inside their blue line.  Try as the might to skate the puck into the offensive zone down the wall, the Caps were stymied all night, either having to chip it in or being stood up at the blue line.
