The Capitals ended their five game winless streak with a 3 to 2 victory over the Blackhawks at United Center. Braden Holtby returned to his A game, pushing away 38 Chicago shots and silencing the home team scorers when it mattered most. Joel Ward's team leading seventh goal was the game winner, the surprising strike coming with less than twenty seconds left in the second period. It wasn't pretty, but this team (and we) will take it.

  • Plus: Washington came into Chicago and bounced back from a two goal deficit, scoring three goals in 4:52 to take their first regulation win since October 25th. The resolve they displayed late in the second period is encouraging to see.
  • Minus: The Capitals came out flat and put themselves into a hole of their own. With pressure to perform mounting with each loss it was disheartening to see the group come out sloppy (especially early). They will have to fix this moving forward.

And now, this... (Relief!)
