3 – Number of 2008 Calder Memorial Trophy finalists that will be playing in tonight’s Capitals/Blackhawks game – Patrick Kane (who won the award), Nicklas Backstrom and Jonathan Toews.
Over their first seven-plus seasons in the NHL, the three have combined for 1,459 points in 1,532 games. All three players were drafted within the top five of their respective draft classes: Toews and Backstrom went third and fourth, respectively, in 2006, and Kane was the first overall pick the following year. A quick look at what the trio has done since entering the League:
Career Numbers | Games Played | Goals | Assists | Points |
Backstrom | 507 | 130 | 377 | 507 |
Kane | 528 | 182 | 320 | 502 |
Toews | 497 | 200 | 250 | 450 |
Good luck finding a better class of Calder Trophy Finalists than that of the 2007-2008 season.
