…the number of active players to have scored 50 or more goals in a single season at least twice since 2005-06 – Alex Ovechkin, Steven Stamkos and Dany Heatley. Ovechkin stands alone among all players, active or otherwise, as the only one to have more than two 50-goal campaigns over the last decade. He’s done it five times, including his 51-goal season last year.
In fact, in the last twenty years he’s one of just two active players (along with Jaromir Jagr) to have more than two, one of 12 to accomplish that feat overall… and only Mario Lemieux (6) has more 50-goal seasons than Ovechkin’s five over that span.
