Nicklas Backstrom Picks Up His 500th Point

Nicklas Backstrom has long been a model of consistency and elite offensive talent. Now in his 8th NHL season – and his 8th with the Capitals – Backstrom has operated at just about a point-per-game pace.

So it’s no surprise that in Game #501, he would pick up point #500. Check out the beauty below:

Backstrom’s slick passing ability has made the Caps’ power play one of the most feared in the NHL in recent years, and tonight’s milestone point was just one more example of that skill. Over the course of his career, Backstrom now has 210 of his 500 points on the power play, and continues to inch up the franchise list, sitting 47 points shy of Mike Ridley for seventh overall in franchise history.

A special player hitting a special milestone – and a reminder of how lucky we are to get to watch him work every night.
