  • The Hershey Bears are making some moves:
    • GM Doug Yingst is wasting no time in reshaping his new roster (though these re-signings look a lot like his old roster.) Welcome back, Joel Rechlicz and Dane Byers. Gritty is making a comeback in Chocolatetown, along with its cousin, Hard To Play Against. [Patriot-News, SHoE, ABC27, PHT (with video]
    • In the meantime, we bid a fond farewell to Dany Sabourin, who will need to acquire some umlauts and a spare vowel or two at duty-free on his way to Finland. [@TimLeone]
    • Track your free-agent Bears with this handy link. [Patriot-News]
  • Where were you on March 28, 2005? If you said Luzhniki Arena in Moscow, count yourself lucky because you just witnessed a whale of a hockey beatdown. Background: 2005 was the Year of No Hockey, and newly-drafted Alex Ovechkin was sharpening his skills with Dynamo in the Super League. Avangard Omsk came to visit, and was thoroughly thrashed eleven-goals-to-none by a Dynamo squad jam-packed with locked out "enhaelovskihs." Ovechkin, Datsyuk, Afinogenov, Markov, Frolov squared off against Jagr and a very traumatized Omsk goaltender. The man behind the Avangard bench that night was Valery Belousov, who is now coaching up Evgeny Kuznetsov in Chelyabinsk (including a heartbreaking loss to Dynamo!). And here we are able to share the entire game. If you rinse the link through GoogleTrans, the video poster made a lot of interesting notes. Awesome OviCelly at approx the 21 minute mark (of the video, not the game clock.) Enjoy! [SuperAjax69 via YouTube]
  • Finally, happy 29th birthday to D.J. King.
