Per @TSNBobMcKenzie, the Caps have acquired Scott Walker from the Carolina Hurricanes for a 7th round pick (via @TarikElBashir).
Per the Caps:
Walker, 36, is in his 15th NHL season and his fourth season with Carolina. The 5’10″, 196-pound native of Cambridge, Ontario, has three goals and two assists in 33 games this year for the Hurricanes. Walker was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round with the 124th overall pick in the 1993 NHL Draft. He has played 820 career NHL games for Vancouver, Nashville and Carolina and has registered 149 goals, 245 assists and 1,153 penalty minutes. Walker has played in 29 career Stanley Cup playoff games, registering one goal and seven assists.Among Walker’s comments to the media assembled at the RBC Center, in regards to his thoughts on going to Washington and to a playoff contender: “I couldn’t ask for something better. It’s close, and my family will be able to come down. So I’m excited.” Coach Paul Maurice added: “He’s a great soldier.”
