"To be honest, and not to dumb it down, I think our focus is the first shift of the game. I don't think it goes any further than that. We've got Game 1 staring us in the face, we obviously want to win that game, but our thoughts are not going to go past the first shift. As you look at a series, there's always, I call them, defining moments, and we have to make sure we're making the right decisions at those defining moment areas. We have been, through the playoffs so far.

"This series will take shape and personality, and we'll have to adjust. Our guys will have to be positive and not get frustrated with it. At the end of the day, we'll be the team we are and play the style we have to play."

Please forgive a very busy day at work (and LOST postgame) for the lack of content today. In the mean time, think a good thought for the Texas Stars tonight because they need all the good thoughts they can get. It's been six periods of hockey since someone not named Jamie Benn scored a goal for this team. While Benn is the ultimate ringer in this tournament, he still needs help. Visit Hundred Degree Hockey for Stephen's take on the action, and some notes on shots on goal that are not encouraging. As usual, you can watch the game at theahl.com for $10, and you can listen to the broadcast for free. Win or lose, I thank the Stars for giving me something to hold onto practically all the way to June. It's definitely helped make the off-season more bearable thus far. Soon the hockey will stop altogether and the real boredom begins.

The Lowell Devils beat the Providence Bruins 6-3 on Sunday and with a loss by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Lowell has secured a first round matchup with Worcester, the Atlantic Division champions. Their series begins on Wednesday. This is huge news because it is the first time since 1999-2000 that the Devils' AHL affiliate has made the Calder Cup Playoffs. Congratulations to John MacLean, Kevin Dean, and the L-Devils players! Give the Sharks a scare!
