The Caps wrapped up a fairly uneven road trip with a matinee win in Buffalo Sunday afternoon, picking up a much-needed two points – but there was no rest for the wicked, and they were right back at it tonight against one of the League’s best.

And since quick-strike goals-against are kind of a Thing now when playing the Caps, it took the Lightning less than two minutes to push their lead to three. This time it was a stretch pass up the middle to spring Point, who was chased (but not caught) by four Caps before fooling Holtby for the far-side goal.

And that was all she wrote. Another rough start, another frustrating finish for a team that needs to get things going earlier if they want to have any success down the stretch. The 60-minute game is a myth, but the closer you can get to it, the better – and that’s not possible when giving up three goals in the opening twenty minutes.
