The Noon Number: Even Up

0 – Number of goals allowed by the Capitals at even strength over the past six games. In fact, the last even-strength goal scored on the Caps was a third-period tally back on January 3 against Toronto – they’ve played 369:18 of hockey since with only three goals-against over that span, all on the power play.

Per Corsica, the Caps have skated just under 281 minutes at five on five (and about 299 minutes at even strength overall) without giving up a goal, outscoring opponents 21 to 0 over that span.

Since the start of 2017, the Caps have given up just four goals at even strength, tops in the League, and have scored a League-best 29 even-strength goals (27 at five on five); that’s the best GF/GA differential among all 30 teams, leading second-place Anaheim’s +11 (+8 at five on five) by a wide margin.
