4 – Number of Capitals to score at least two goals in a home opener, dating back to 1991. The latest in this elite group? Daniel Winnik, who picked up both Caps’ goals in Saturday’s win over the Islanders to kick off the home slate.
Winnik joins Alex Ovechkin, Alexander Semin and Peter Bondra as the only other Caps over the last 25 years to accomplish this feat… which, with all due respect to Winnik, is the first and probably last time he’ll be mentioned in the same category with those three players.
