The Noon Number: Lightning Strikes

25 – Number of regular-season games between the Capitals and Lightning in which one or both teams has scored at least four goals since the start of the 2008-09 season (36 games total).

The Caps have outscored the Bolts 130-97 over that span, their combined 227 goals in 36 games working out to roughly 6.31 goals per game. By comparison, the League average has only topped 6.00 goals per game once since the 1996-97 season (a hearty 6.05 goals/game in 2005-06).

Not surprisingly, the Caps have been led by Alex Ovechkin, who has racked up 50 points (24 goals, 26 assists) in his last 35 regular-season games against the Lightning; on the other side of the ledger, Steven Stamkos has 14 goals and 14 assists in 34 games against the Caps since making his debut back in 2008 (trailing only former Bolt Martin St. Louis for the team lead).
