The Noon Number: Tres Impressive

4 – Number of three-point games for Evgeny Kuznetsov so far this season (with the fourth coming last night), which is as many as his teammates have, combined – Jason Chimera has two, Nicklas Backstrom has one, and John Carlson has done it once as well. Per Elias:

Evgeny Kuznetsov scored one goal and assisted on two more for the Capitals in their 5-3 win against the Jets. It was the fourth time that Kuznetsov recorded at least three points in one game this season (including a five-point night at Edmonton on October 23), matching the number of three-point games this season by all other Washington players combined (Jason Chimera 2, Nicklas Backstrom 1, John Carlson 1). Kuznetsov had only one three-point game in his two previous seasons in the NHL, though he also had one versus the Islanders in the 2015 playoffs.

Kuznetsov’s four three-point games is tied for the League lead (with Jamie Benn, Mike Cammalleri, Taylor Hall and Mats Zuccarello), and, one quarter of the way through the season, keeps him on pace to challenge Alex Ovechkin‘s post-1986-87 franchise mark for such games – 15 in 2009-10.
