Not a ton of offense in the first period, but plenty of good defense from the Capitals. Their penalty kill squashed the only one they faced (a squeezable Charmin-soft holding minor on Tom Wilson), and Washington led in both hits (10-3) and blocked shots (9-2), so neither your body nor theirs means anything to them. Evgeny Kuznetsov passed (literally) on a scoring chance, opting instead to try some trickery, and we’re still 0-0 after one in D.C.
