The Noon Number: Laich a Rolling Stone

699 – Number of regular-season NHL games played by Brooks Laich heading into tonight’s outing in Detroit, 698 of which have been in a Caps’ sweater. Drafted in the sixth round by Ottawa in the 2001 Entry Draft, Laich made his NHL debut with the Senators in February 2004, a little less than two weeks before being traded to the Caps in exchange for Peter Bondra.

Laich is currently sitting ninth among longest-tenured Caps (and second among active players behind only Alex Ovechkin), and needs to play in just 27 more games to pass Rod Langway for sole possession of eighth. All 319 of his NHL points (and 32 more in 65 playoff games) have come with the Caps, 22nd in franchise history.

Congratulations, Brooks!
