26 – Number of Capitals games this season that have gone into overtime (19 of which have gone to a shootout), most in the League. They’ve gone a combined 13-13 in those extra sessions and the skills competitions that have followed when five minutes of actual hockey haven’t been enough to determine a winner (they’re 9-10 in those).
On the flip side, the 49 Caps games that have ended after 60 minutes is the fewest in the League, and they’ve compiled a 21-28 record in those.
With four more overtime games in the final two weeks of the season, the Caps would tie the NHL mark for most such games in a season (the 2003-04 Bruins played 30).
