    • Whatever injury the Captain may (or may not) have been nursing prior to his 700th career NHL game, it did not appear to impede his power play power. [RMNB, Capitals Voice]
    • For the record, in those 700 games, Alex Ovechkin has amassed 433 goals (72 of which were gamewinners), 401 assists, 834 points in aggregate, a sturdy +44 rating, 470 minutes in the sin bin, 3,532 shots and a career shooting percentage of 12.3%. • News and notes from yesterday’s morning skate:

  • The second line isn’t scoring, but they’re working on it. [NBC4]
  • Matt Niskanen wants to make some noise offensively. [Press Box DC]
  • The Caps find their lack of power play opportunities… disturbing. [WaPo]
  • Getting to know Braden Holtby, and why he’s still wearing #70. [WaPo Magazine]
  • Oh hey looky, Stan Galiev scored a real nice goal for the Hershey Bears versus the Baby Pens, and the team went on to win 2-1 in the shootout. Plus Connor Carrick destroyed someone with a hip check.[Patriot-News]
  • “In my fourth year now, I’m just trying to do the things that other guys did for me, just showing the guys the ropes. Going to NHL camps, you really learn a lot there too, and I think it’s important for me to bring back that experience to the guys here. That’s sure been a fun part for me, to see both ends of the spectrum, to be a learner and to be kind of a teacher.” Madison Bowey reflects on his four years as a Kelowna Rocket. [HF]
  • Finally, happy 56th birthday to Al Jensen, and on this day of Thanksgiving, we express our deepest gratitude to all the Rink’s readers, commenters and lurkers, and to the many fine contributors whose work we link here each day.
