The Noon Number

During the lockout-shortened 2013 season, the Caps had just 16 fighting majors as a team, which tied for the third-lowest total in the League. Half of those fights involved now-former Caps (a team-high seven for Matt Hendricks and a rather comical one for Mike Ribeiro), leaving Steve Oleksy (who had three scraps last year), Jason Chimera and John Erskine (two each) and Aaron Volpatti (one) as the only players on the current roster who had a fight in a Caps sweater last year (Volpatti had four more for Vancouver, and Oleksy had 11 in 55 AHL games). Likely Hershey-bound newcomers Tyson Strachan (five fights between the AHL and NHL in 2012-13, including one against Chimera) and Michael Latta (a whopping 18 AHL fights last season) also place highly on the organization’s duke-it-out depth chart.

With all of that background info out of the way, the question is who will lead the Caps in fighting majors in 2013-14?
