Today's Number looks at recent historical ineptitude at the team level.
Today's Noon Number: .278 - Caps' percentage of available standings points gained through nine games.
Over the course of a full season, no team has finished with that low a point percentage since the 1999-2000 Atlanta Thrasers, who finished the season 14-57-7-4 (.238). Since the lockout (err, not the last one, the one before that), the worst point percentage belongs to the 2006-07 Flyers at .341. And since you're wondering, the 2003-04 Caps ended up at .360.
All of this is to say that things almost certainly will get better for the 2013 Caps... right?
