Today's Number looks at the Caps' top two pivots... and the team's struggles (until recently) to score when they're not on the ice.
The Noon Number: 75 - Percentage of Capitals goals this season for which Nicklas Backstrom and/or Mike Ribeiro have been on the ice.
The Caps have scored 48 times and their top two pivots have been on the ice together for a dozen of those (all coming on the power play), with Ribeiro on the ice for another 14 tallies and Backstrom for another ten on their own. Of note, nine of the 12 goals scored without either on the ice have come in the last six games, with five of those coming in the last three outings.
