Actually, there's a ton I don't understand. But a player gets clear possession of the puck with obvious time & space, but they wait till the last possible instant when an opponent is almost on top of them to pass or move the puck up the boards. There must be a reason behind this - it must be taught as I see this happen over and over. Is this just so that opponent is now behind the play? Or is there some other strategy to it?
