Last night we got to see just how artistic Tom Wilson could be on the ice… but did you know he was also quite the artist off it, as well?
Observe these beautiful works, captured in classic colored marker-form by Panini at this year’s NHLPA Rookie Showcase in Toronto and displayed as part of their annual Original NHL Player Sketch Cards series (and be sure to check out the rest of the series here, because it’s well worth your time).
First up, Wilson provides an artist's rendering of, well, the boys. Assuming these are fellow rookies Boone Jenner, Sean Monahan and... Pears. Y'know, that guy. Notice the use of perspective, the subtle placement of a tree serving as a reminder that Wilson's height puts towering oaks to shame.
Next, a portrayal of Wilson's home in beautiful simplicity - the classic red and white of the Canadian flag, the perfect number of points on the maple leaf. You can almost hear the strains of "Oh, Canada" as you gaze upon it.
And, of course, his adopted home - the crest he now wears proudly, drawn to perfection right down to the signature puck on the 't'. Well done, sir.
