swim with the exact same number of regular season wins (103) as during his championship season last year.
An omen of things to come? I think so.

it helped that he had a bye last year. more teams bunched at the top and the bottom this time around. swim was also hit with a rash of injuries late last week (briere and wiz)—no telling how much that will effect him in round 1. he obviously still had enough fire power to beat me, so i’m glad he’s on the other side of the bracket.

Not going to be easy but hopefully my goalies can stay hot and maybe LA can score more than a goal or 2 every game so I can get some wins. Gonna be harder without a bye this year but I could see pretty much anyone left winning it. The two week games mean there is a lot that can still happen.

Your team is interesting. You led a few categories, but were last in +/- and your goalies were terrible. Maybe some schedule luck? I know I had some this year. Only had to play you once, and always seemed like I was in H2H matchups with the lower half of the league

Yeah, the scheduling wasn’t even, I think I played every playoff team twice. Not that I’m complaining, my team was middle of the pack in pretty much every category, so 5th place sounds about right.

i was the same—the four teams i played only once were all non-playoff teams, and the matchups have been the same each year (i.e. i played CB once both years, malin once both years, etc.).
it will be some work, but i’d love to see the matchups jumbled next season. or some rule applied that allows us to set the schedule based on standings from the year before, i.e. the NFL (not sure how to do that).

That’s some fine stat padding. My mediocre offense and goaltending were being carried significantly by Neal and Thomas who are both gone now, so Natty must be pumped about his side of the bracket.

yup, REAL excited about running into the guy who killed F&B the last week of the season (7-2-1) and beat me two weeks prior (6-4). quit sandbagging!

Ha, I’ll sandbag all I want!
Got some pretty ridiculous goaltending from Brodeur and Nabokov the last couple of weeks, we’ll see how long that lasts. I’m hoping Nabokov gets traded to a contender, but it looks like he’s trying to re-sign with the Isles.

Yeah, Bryz was a goat fuck and Hiller was for most of the year too. Hiller has been good lately and now I have TT so hopefully I’ve addressed that. It looked like I had the 2 seed locked up so I didn’t bother moving Bryz, hoping he’d get hot. Now I need to make a decision though. I won’t win anything with a dead weight roster spot.
Please, call me F&B.
one of the more impressive things about swim’s win last year was that he won with tyler seguin on his bench the entire finals matchup. ballsy move that paid off handsomely this year, and will pay off handsomely again next year in his last year as a prospect.

CB was the only dead wood in the league this year. Probably needs to “opt” out next season

There were many weeks where he didn’t update his team. I understand if he still wants to do it, but I think it would be good to look for a replacement to take over his team.
"Ovechkin is as subtle as a shot of vodka."
The last time he set his lineup was November 13th, so it’s not like he’s been checking in and out. Maybe it’s just a pet peeve of mine, but we’re all busy. It literally takes less than a minute to set your whole lineup for the week.
No, not just your pet peeve. Nov. 13 is ridiculous. If you set it on Monday and then sometime mid-week you have a guy go on IR or come off IR, that’s one thing. But not setting it at all…
Please, call me F&B.
agreed. CB completely checked out. knee high also went through long spells not setting his roster. is everyone aware you can set your roster for future games? (i.e. in 15 minutes, you could click through ALL your games and set your rosters for the entire season.)
i think there should be a rule to continue at least setting rosters throughout the season. i understand if someone’s out of contention and has no incentive to make active roster transactions, but leaving stars on the bench is BS. as stands, there’s no reason not to tank games towards the end of a season as a rebuilding strategy.

i should add: this goes hand-in-hand with the issue of unbalanced schedules. since we’re destined to play some teams once and some teams twice, dormant teams have the potential to strongly impact the playoff standings.

i put together a draft pick tracker similar to what knee high distributed last year. link here. i relied on my gmail search, so it’s possible there are missing trades. let me know if you see mistakes and i’ll update.
from a quick glance, K_C is looking to match his brother’s draft haul from this year.
I won’t have all the 1st round picks that F&B had, but I should be done drafting by the 6th or 7th round.

Man, my team started off good and hot this year. And then it was just a hot mess for the remainder of the season.

Couple of good first round playoff matchups in MRTS. I’m deadlocked with K_C at 5-5, and D’oh’s 7-3 lead over swim is closer than it seems. Most of their categories could go either way.
My goalies came up huge for me yesterday, and my PIM chasing mission with Prust was a success.
Yeah, you’re waiver queening hard for PIMs, aren’t you? You pretty much locked up a goalie sweep last night and you have a ridiculous +/-, so I’m boned unless I can win every other category. Not liking my chances.

Are you saying McQuaid isn’t up there with Weber and Karlsson as stud fantasy D? C’mon!
I think how Theo does tonight for you will determine how I play my goalies the rest of the week. I’ve got a pretty comfortable lead in all three goalie cats, but if he puts in a good one it will put some pressure on me to play my guys.
just drop all your goalies for PIM guys!

…and koivu possibly out the rest of the season, and toews still not skating with a rumored concussion, and letang now likely concussed….
dammit.

I wish someone would remind my team that the playoff matchups are two weeks long…
