Happy Groundhog Day!

Phil saw his shadow (when does he not?)! Everyone ready for another Super Bowl Blizzard?

Heh.

But how can we have more winter, when it hasn’t even been winter?! This does not bode well for summer. I predict a week over 100.

I figure that at some point soon it’s going to be brutally cold, like 3 weeks where the high is below freezing, and we will get all the annual snowfall in that period.

We lost the coin flip last night. If Neuvy stops Sammuelson’s 2 shots (which 95% of the time he would) and Halpern doesn’t get beat by the pipe it’s a completely different game. That’s what is so frustrating, there is just no margin for error.

that said I turned the game off when FLA went up 3-1 with 10 min. left, so yeah it was painful.

by Beakers Lab on Feb 2, 2012 9:50 AM EST up reply actions

It was pretty bad. The shift by MP, Mojo and Sasha after the third goal actually was a pretty good one though, they actually spent the entire shift in the Cats’ end, but they only had one or two shots on goal.

Weird moment of the day. Clips discussion veers a little to the non-family-friendly side. So I google a name to discover said actress is a porn star, which doesn’t surprise me. I repond on twitter to JP and Neil about a play on names, without mentioning either.

I end up being followed on twitter by a porn actress.

Blocked that one pronto.

Rollin, I went to Northland College, which is a very hippy-dippy sort of place. But I’m immensely grateful my parents gently guided and encouraged me to go to a place like that, because it was absolutely the right place for me at that point in my life. I would have been a spectacular flame out at a lot of other places.

I manage to get into an outstanding grad school, “despite” not going to a name college.

I used to be a valet parker when I was in college. One of the places we worked was Columbia Country Club in Chevy Chase. There was a member there who had a BMW he’d bought and customized at the factory somewhere in Germany and had shipped over. The first day I got to drive that one, the Secret Service was at the Club, and I had to drive the car a bit longer than I normally would have.

It was the most comfortable automobile seat—and possibly the most comfortable seat of any sort—I’ve ever sat in. It felt like my buttocks were being cradled in two huge, soft, yet firm, hands. I never wanted to get out of that car.

I’m remembering one evening, again in college, when there was a knock on my door. I opened it to a group of my male and female friends all stark naked, asking me if I wanted to go running around campus with them.

I kind of miss the days when eight naked people I’m friends with would just randomly show up at my door.

Tell me about it. The doctor DROPPED the damned shard down my gullet, shrugged, and told mom to let him know if I passed blood later and sent me home with her, still stoned out of mind.

My poor mom had to get me home by herself, and at the time, I was at my adult height and weighed 140lbs. AND I was hallucinating by the time she got me in the door of our house.

Okay, once in college when I was 17, I was in a room with a bunch of people doing pot, but I had to flee because, in under ten minutes, I had the WORST headache of my life. I felt like someone was ripping my head apart from the top.

I spend 9+ hours a day working on computers, I will browse some news sites and some sports at work but outside of the rink I’m pretty much not on the web unless it’s research for work. When I get home I basically check Fark a couple other sites and that’s it. I try to spend as little time on the computer at home as I can since I am burnt out by the time I get home.

I knew the series of tubes things due to the technical nature of it but I have no idea what Anti-joke Chicken, or Socially Awkward Penguin, or Foul Bachelor Frog are

I’ll make a useless post now about how perfect Pandora has been for me today:
Rock of Ages → Enjoy the Silence → Burning Heart → Juicy → Dream On → Rebel Yell → The Longest Time

Comrades, leave me here a little, while as yet 't is early morn:
Leave me here, and when you want me, sound upon the bugle-horn

now it queued up Hysteria. Pandora is unstoppable, like Billy Joel’s car when he’s drunk driving.

Pandora has been on a roll for me too. my 90’s grunge/alt rock station has been churning out hits all day.

Lit – My Own Worst Enemy
Bush – Comedown
Smashing Pumpkins-Today
The Verve Pipe-The Freshman
Better than Ezra-Good
STP – Creep
Blues Traveler- Run Around
Cranberries – Dreams
Collective Soul-Shine

(I happened to have been talking about this with someone which is why I had the list available)

I agree. Pandora’s been exceptionally awesome today.

Ugh…just what the Nats need :-(

by Goaliemama on Feb 2, 2012 4:13 PM EST up reply actions

he broke into the league in Detroit, and had some high expectations. He’s been traded about a billion times since. All promise, no delivery.

sorry, he broke in the Dodgers. Detroit’s just where he had something approaching success.

Interestingly enough, he was born in Germany.

The Nats are his 7th team

Why? Makes you wonder.

by Goaliemama on Feb 2, 2012 4:19 PM EST up reply actions

he’s wildly inconsistent. but every GM seems to think he’ll finally get it together with their team, so they want him, and the team that’s trading him knows they can package him with another piece and get a nice return. He tends to end up on poorly performing teams who then trade him to a contender as well. He went from the Diamondbacks to White Sox at one point (when the D’backs were baaaaad), and then this season he went from the bad White Sox to the much better Cardinals, who were looking for pitching support for the playoff push.

He actually went from the ChiSox to the Jays who traded him 2 hours later to the Cardinals in the trade to get Colby Rasmus ;)

I wasn’t even going to try to explain the bizareness that was that trade!

not terrible for a SP who is an innings eater and will face a pitcher 3 times a game

Might as well have re-signed Livo for that. Nats now have 7 guys for 5 SP positions, four of which are likely spoken for. And Lannan is making 5 mil as the guy that was likely to be the fifth.

Livo signed a minor deal with the Astros. Which makes me incredibly sad.
