Sounds like a very nice prediction, Spidey. So, any thoughts on who our next scores will be?

No Alex goal? But I’ll take goals by any Caps. Chimmer does have a good track record against the Rangers.

The glue guys have been the most consistant? Didn’t Chimmer go like 12 games without a goal recently after being crazy hot at the start of the year? Do these guys even do any research for this intermission bits?

Ersk has looked ok…but tell me whether Sarge wouldn’t have been at least as good as him and, certainly, better than Hamr?
Hammer has had more ups and downs today. I don’t think Schultz does what Hammer did on the PK in the 1st and help us keep it in the O-zone for so long. But he also has had a lot of turnovers.
And I’m pretty sure Erskine is in for his truculence.

To me Green is more important. The D does a lot more of the getting the puck out of the zone which is our #1 problem and he also would be the one getting the puck in the zone on the PP which has killed us a lot as well. Don’t get me wrong Backstrom is very important as well but I think (and hope given he is more likely to come back sooner) that Green is more important to the team right now.
…and I’m more confident that Green will be back sooner than Backstrom.

And I quote...
“what a play by Dubinsky!!” Seriously??? For what?
At least we get this same crew tomorrow.
Today’s narratives from multiple sources:
1. This is Hunter’s fault because he benched Knuble.
2. This is Hunter’s fault because he didn’t start Neuvirth.
3. Ryan Callahan is the best captain in the league.
4. The Rangers are the best blocked shot team in the league.
5. The ice can’t possibly be bad at MSG.
6. Henrik Lundqvist is the MVP.
7. The Rangers don’t commit penalties, but are one of the toughest teams in the leagues.
8. Ovechkin is lazy and floats.
9. Semin is a dog that doesn’t produce.
Fact is that the Caps got undone by two bad Orlov passes and a shank by Brouwer. They also got mauled in front of the Rangers’ net on multiple occasions. I thought they hung in well, but the two early mistakes by 81 and 44 were enough. The fourth line played quite well, and I thought the speed of the Caps was nice.

Yes, ma’am. You were right. Is that what you wanted to hear?
Nice guys finish first, but sometimes the season is awfully long.

I’m always right :) Now if only Mr. B could learn that.

Should’ve never happened. Puck should’ve been cleared by 81.

I’ll be if you put an iso camera on every forward, you’d see floating. Ovie is just under a microscope.

I’m not even a little bit mad. Had the Caps made all their same mistakes, but the refs been actually calling penalties (on both sides), I am confident that the Caps could have won.
that’s how I feel about a lot of games

We have a tough tough road ahead. I understand starting neuvirth because we play tomorrow but isn’t it reaching the point where we need to ride Voukes? Nuevy couldn’t do anything on the first or the third but the second one seven hole hurts

ride your goalie hard in the regular season, and all those miles catch up to them in the playoffs.

we have to get there first …. I’d say ride away

Agreed if we were first but we are outside the playoffs looking in. And if the panthers beat the islanders then it’s even harder

it’s not even mid-February. Florida, Ottawa, Toronto, Pittsburgh, and New Jersey are all within striking distance.

Also, I think Hunter thinks tomorrow at home is a more winnable game that we need our superior goalie in.
Neuvirth didn’t look good on the first and third goals either. He massively over committed on the shot on the first one which left him down and out on the pass, and he didn’t have his stick in position to stop a shot along the ice on third goal.

Yeah he’s looking more like a long-term backup/mediocre starter. And that’s OK, not everyone can be a good starting goalie in the NHL.
He looked more like Varly tonight than himself. Varly, thoug he is more athletic, relies on his athleticism too often because he’s often in bad position. Neuvy looked scrambly to me, but doesn’t have enough athleticism like a Varly or a certain Mr. Vokoun to recover when he’s out of position.
Neuvy will have a rebound, I don’t see it coming this season though.

Definitely not going that far. He’s just not having a good season and he didn’t do anything to earn himself more playing time today.

Ok. That’s enough for me. Enjoy the rest of the day. Go Islanders.

Since the NBC crew made me start drinking early, I’m thinking an OT Hockey thread for the Kitties game is in order. Join me, won’t you?
watching rugby….“You’re not allowed to block, not allowed to set a pick.” Hmmmmmmmmmm, applicable to another sport I know…..

Can we all agree that Neuvy is just OFF this season? Can we please recall Holtby for a stint?

Holtby, who is struggling in Hershey? That Holtby?

Yes. Watch how he’ll elevate his game because of the excitement of an NHL call-up.

Stephen Whyno @SWhyno
Vokoun texted Neuvirth as soon as he woke up this morning saying he wasn’t feeling great, tried to take warm-ups but couldn’t go.
