You’re so demanding.
"The Caps fan doesn't say, 'is the glass half full' or 'is the glass half empty'. He wonders when the glass is going to spill."
The Caps should be a more rested team. Plus the Rangers beat the Flyers yesterday and the big bad Bruins are next on their docket. So, hopefully the “looking past the mediocre Caps and looking forward to the Bruins” factor will come into play.
Rocking the Red for teams on the banks of the Potomac and at the Gateway Arch and Singing the Blues about Hockey.
@SWhynoReply
Jay Beagle on ice for #Caps warmups and Mike Knuble does not appear to be. Looks like another healthy scratch.
Let the fight continue
Management to the Fans

Bruce Boudreau when asked about Brooks Laich's return to the lineup, he said: "He just adds another dimension to our team. If it was puzzle, he just fits that thing. He completes us."
Brooks Laich completing everything from teams to tires and everything in between.
@SWhyno
#Caps lines clear, unsure on defense. Looks like Alzner and Carlson together, Erskine and Hamrlik together. Don’t know 55-6-81 who’s in.
Looks like 55 is back out. Hard to take either of those other two out
by icehammer97 on Feb 12, 2012 12:13 PM EST up reply actions
Why do some writers assume that scratching Knuble means that Hunter is going to lose the locker room? Is he that much of an influence that his being scratched automatically leads to team dissension?
If that’s the case, then I’ve lost respect for the entire make-up of the team. The fact is that Knuble wasn’t producing. And, among non-producing players, he doesn’t have the speed or the stamina of Beagle or Aucoin. He’s got grit, but that grit hasn’t gotten him anywhere this year. If this is the end of his career, then it’s a shame, but that doesn’t mean you play him if he doesn’t deserve a jersey.
IMO, you lose the locker room as a coach by making poor strategic decisions, by not being honest with the team, by attaching blame where no blame is deserved, by belittling players in front of the others or to the press. You don’t lose the locker room by making a roster decision that, while putting a popular player on the bench, gives the team a better chance to win.
And – even if the players don’t think benching 22 gives them a better chance to win, it is not a decision that is so clearly wrong (i.e., benching Ovechkin or Laich) that one should doubt Hunter’s credibility.

My guess is some of the writers are looking for stuff to write about on off days and might have the same feeling for Knuble that many of the fans do and are letting their feelings get into their reporting.

woo first back to back days off since september (not counting xmas). Only question, should I rock NB19 WC jersey, or red BL21. Decisions, decisions

Man, I look at the Rangers roster and I just don’t see why they are so good. But the numbers say they are. Must be the ‘whole greater than its parts’ and, perhaps, good coaching.
Go Caps!
@washcaps
Michal Neuvirth will be in net today for the #Caps, not Tomas Vokoun. #CapsNYR

pretty good I’d say. Definitely competing. You missed our PK spending about 30 seconds cycling the puck in the rags zone and getting a good chance too. Rags haven’t been able to get any pressure on Neuvy

So – I guess if Semin is laying out to block shots, then Hunter has lost the locker room and the boys won’t play for them.

Hendricks was on him but left but he was on the side of Hammer.
by icehammer97 on Feb 12, 2012 12:56 PM EST up reply actions
What happened on reviewing the play again was Hammer took the puck to the other side and thought Orlov was switching sides Orlov went to pressure the guy behind the net when both Hammer and Halpren were both going after the guy on the half wall that Hammer turned it over to. Hendricks was covering Callahan but then left him when the puck went out to the point leaving Callahan open. What probably would have been best would have been in Hendricks had stayed with Callahan and Ward had gone over the the D cutting in then they both would have been covered. But the problem all started with Hammer turning it over then having two guys go to cover one guy.
Did you watch JJ’s description of the D and how it isn’t a man-on-man from CRL? Interesting, and very helpful for watching the coverage.
Yeah, whatever it is….they let men repeatedly free in front of the net. Unbelievable.

Honestly, had the Rangers had a fast, sustained attack like the Caps just did, the commentators wouldn’t be able to shut up about it. Instead, they talk about the one chance the Rangers had at the other end, and go on and on about totally unrelated things.

You think this is the caps “identity” now: a speedy checking team. If we ever get Green and Backy again this team would be scary fast.
