Waiting in an airport terminal for another few minutes. Hope to be home in time to watch most of the game!
Have your mobile device to watch on? GCL is a great investment for me since I am on the road quite a bit.

Admit it.
You’ve missed me.

I actually did…no kidding. Seeing all those post tap-ins (read Stamkos, Malkin) by Hamr and Carlson, I have to believe Sarge could have stopped some…. I hope he does well.
I like Schultz in the lineup as well. It was a joke about his height/reach.

My understanding is the Game Day Open Thread is just that – an open thread, so it’s OK. Especially before the game starts.
Based on GMGM not being a Finn fan, I’d be surprised if they made a play for him, besides it being awkward after last year’s Wideman injury and Ovi’s love of checking Ruutu.
"You can want to get to April but when you get to April you may not like the answers you get, so you might as well enjoy the ride while it's going on." - Brian McNally on JRR, 8/29/2011
Plus, I think a few teams are going for Ruutu. I bet the price will be beyond what it’s worth for this team this year.
That'll make your weagle wink!
"You're the boss, apple sauce" - @GreenLife52
I’m sure Ovi can find someone else to hit, but the money is assuredly an issue.
I sure hope the team puts forth a good effort tonight.

Wasn’t it not too long ago that we needed big bodies and toughness? Things change mighty fast around here.

The year after they played the eventual champs nearly to a draw, their Corsi went down, hard.

I don’t really see the Wideman injury as an issue. And while I’ve joked about it, too, I don’t think GMGM has an issue with Finns.
As to whether he’s the right need/fit for this team, based on what he could cost, I don’t think so.
Yeah, like I said, the Wides thing would just make an “awkward” moment.
The Gleason signing really surprised me. Carolina could have gotten that first round pick/prospect, or even more for him. Plus I think he undercut what he could have made this summer. He must really like Raleigh.
"You can want to get to April but when you get to April you may not like the answers you get, so you might as well enjoy the ride while it's going on." - Brian McNally on JRR, 8/29/2011
GMJR has all but said that this season is a wash, so I think Gleason’s role will be more important for CAR next year that this. They have a few younger offensive and defensive d-men (Faulk among them) that will need steady mentoring/shepherding rather than the rent-a-body that characterizes much of the CAR d-corps right now. As for Gleason’s motives, among them are likely his history in the area and his enhanced profile in that team when compared to his role in most any other NHL team.
Dingos are involved. Best not to ask.
If Jim Rutherford approached me with the choice of a pricey Finn who has been mentioned in trade rumours to poach from his roster, I would take Joni Pitkanen rather than Ruutu (even if he is sidelined until after the trade deadline).
I have a Joni Pitkanen bobblehead (last Caps game at RBC was Family Night) if you really want him. Only reason I’d be leery of Pitkanen is LBI history and likely cap hit — he’s $4m now, last year of his K — otherwise, he’d work well in the d-hole the Caps have developed.
Dingos are involved. Best not to ask.
Neither do I, but I have to admire the promo department’s planning: the Canes’ next scheduled family night bobblehead? Tomas ‘Jan Brady’ Kaberle.

Does Ru play center? I thought he was a wing. If Moen is healthy and available I am about that guy.

Whyno just tweeted the D pairings:
Carlzner reunited, Hamrlik-Orlov, Schultz-Wideman
Doesn’t Wides get the most minutes?

Now Wides and Schulz as a pairing actually makes sense. It was a pretty good pairing when Green was out last year (and before Wides got injured himself).
But when Green went out, BB broke it up and stuck Schultz with Oisk. I’ll admit that Schutz was the 6th d-man then (and 5th under BB when Green was out). But I had figured Hamrlik could get minutes in other ways, like PK (or even serve some time on the point for PP).

Flu apparently. And Kulikov is out with knee injury. And no Theo. In fact, CSN referred to the Panthers as depleted. So should we now worry about the Caps chances since we know what their record is against depleted teams.
