Washington Capitals news and notes: Ovi32 tricks out a milestone, Wojtek Wolski sets a deadline, Neuvy goes missing, and Christmas came early to Helsinki.

Your savory breakfast links:

  • Well, Alex Ovechkin usually makes his milestone games special, so why not a hat trick on the occasion of his 100th career point for Dynamo Moscow? Indeed. [KHL.ru, RMNB]
    • And here he is as the Pied Piper of Donetsk. [RMNB]
    • There were two celebrities at the Donbass game - AO32 of course. And the Gagarin Cup. [zadonbass.org]
  • Over in scenic Suomi, Mathieu Perreault had a triumphant debut weekend for HIFK. His new head coach Pasi Sormunen had this to say: "[He] shows you what a good Sentteri [centerman] looks like. It brings hope knowing we have two top-six Sentteri." [Helsinga Sanomat]
    • MP85 had an assist in each of his first two games and created numerous scoring chances throughout. [HIFK @ JYP (video), Espoo Blues @ HIFK (video)]
    • Lookin' good in the home red sweater, MattyP. [mtv3.fi]
  • Brooks had a far more Laichian game for Kloten in his second start, adding one assist and zero penalty minutes in a 3-1 victory over Ambri-Piotta. [NLA]
    • And could he be on the short list for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup tournament? [Ottawa Sun]

  • Wojtek Wolski recorded his first career goal and assist in the PHL, and Sanok took a 6-0 victory over Union Askam. [sport.pl, tvPodkapacie.pl (video), eSanok.pl (photo gallery)]
    • He then proceeded to break the hearts of all of Poland by announcing that he will play only three more games in-country. He plans to take his traditional Christmas break in Toronto and then he will either suit up for the post-lockout Caps or look for work in a higher-profile league. [Nowiny24.pl, Gwizdek24.pl]
  • Tomas Kundratek scored the Hershey Bears' 12,497 teddy-bear triggerin' goal at the Giant Center, but the five goals scored by the Norfolk Admirals secured the victory for the visitors. The teams will play the rubber match at the VC on Thursday. [Patriot-News, SHoE, videos (highlights, teddy bear cascade)]
  • And, uh, what was the deal with Philipp Grubauer's flying fists o' fury? [Caps Outsider]
  • Oh hai there Stretch, ya big lug. You've been missed. [Patriot-News]
  • Finally, the Caps organization is using the lockout time to help grow local hockey. This weekend they highlighted the "Washington Capitals High School Hockey Game of the Week," with this week's game featuring Walt Whitman vs. Winston Churchill, played at Rockville Ice Arena. Churchill prevailed 7-3. [Caps365 video (Game Recap, Game Highlights, Churchill Locker Room, Whitman Locker Room, Event Recap), @WashCaps (picture)]
