Notes from down on the farm, over in Europe and everything in between.

Your savory breakfast links:

● Today's assortment of lockout-y goodness:

○ The exodus of Caps to teams in Europe continues, with Wojtek Wolski becoming the latest to go as he signs with HC Sokol in Poland. [DC Pro Sports Report, Caps Outsider, KH Sanok, (link in Polish), Hokej.net (link in Polish)]

○ A little less than a month into the lockout and the two sides are still talking (or at least talking about talking) - which is at least a sliver of good news. [SI]

○ Common sense tells us that the owners can outlast the players in this battle... but could there be cracks in the armor? [SLAM!]

○ Not that it necessarily matters, since frontman Gary Bettman likely has the ear - and the support - of the owners who matter most. [The Star]

○ The longer this thing drags on, the harder it is to feel sympathy for either side. For others impacted by the lockout, though, it's not so hard. [USA Today]

Elliotte Friedman projects what could have been during the 2012-13 season and the 2013 Stanley Cup Champion Range-...hmm. Maybe losing this season wouldn't be such a bad thing. [CBC]

● In (slightly) cheerier 2012-13 projections, a look at what could be in store for Mathieu Perreault this year. [Peerless]

● Is Alex Ovechkin looking a bit more Ovechkin-ier while he plays for Dynamo? [PHT, RMNB]

● Remembering the World Hockey Association, the upstart league that spawned several current franchises and helped to inflate player salaries, forty years later. [Welland Tribune]

● News and notes from down on the farm:

Braden Holtby made 27 saves as the Bears wrapped up their preseason slate with their second straight win over cross-state rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. [Bears, Patriot-News]

○ Ashburn, VA native and Florida Panthers prospect Adam Comrie is hoping to make his mark with the Reading Royals after taking a five-month break from hockey. [Reading Eagle]

● Finally, happy 53rd birthday to John Blum.
