On the positives of a suspension
So, now that punishment for Alexander Ovechkin's hit on Zbynek Michalek has been dispensed, the calendar shows his next game as being on February 4 at Montreal. While that seems like an eternity away, I think we can all agree that the Washington Capitals' captain is in need of some battery recharging from time to time. So behold, some things that Ovechkin may be able to do during this league-imposed exile:
The noted soccer fan doe not get many chances to see two top teams play one another, so maybe he's up for a trip to Barcelona to catch a Clasico match-up with Real Madrid?
Any occasion where one can one-up Tim Thomas is a fortunate one. Go to the State of the Union and talk up the pucks with a bunch of crusty old white guys.
Why even consider going to cold-ass Ottawa when you can enjoy an All-Star game of a different sport in a far more agreeable climate?
Strongly consider getting up early to see the Oscar nominations. Knowing him, I'm guessing he's pulling for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.
So how else should Ovechkin spend the next 11 days until he boards the charter to Montreal?

Working on going from his backhand to his forehand, of course.
You perhaps knew me better as "Your Nation's Capital." Same great commentary, now with 100% more transparency!
The way this team has been playing? Work on his power fade + chipping and putting.
The uninspired hockey from this team from top down this year has been disgusting. This team has either been taking half the season off, or really sucks this year. If Ted raises ticket prices next year, you won’t see me at the booth again.
Not in Ottawa, apparently.

Fine by me.
We’ve got too many heroes. We need some monsters.

I assumed that was given and hardly answers the question posed in the post.

Which DC sports team has the Most Valuable Players? That would be DC United, a team being pushed out by the city. Help Keep United in DC so they can receive a fair deal on a lease and help develop a path to build a stadium with local investment and incentives.
