i noticed there is no trade deadline in MRTS this year. should there be?

Yeah, there probably should be. There are three more H2H weeks left before our playoff season starts. I’d propose making the trade deadline the last day of our regular season (Sunday Feb 12 I think). Then put a moratorium in place until the fantasy season ends.

I agree with the trade deadline. Make the teams have the ability to tinker and make some moves for the playoffs for a few more weeks then have the rosters locked to a degree until the end of the season.

in my view, the trade deadline should exist a few weeks out from the last day of the regular season. the idea is for teams to decide whether they’re going to go for it or play it conservatively, not literally wait until the friday before the season ends when they KNOW they will/won’t be advancing.

obviously trades shouldn’t happen during the course of the playoffs.

can we make it the last day of this current matchup (which is the end of next week, due to the all-star game)?

Doesn’t really matter to me. I don’t follow when you say “the idea” is for teams to have to decide a couple weeks out whether to make a playoff push or not. Is your concern that a team like D’oh or SME will find out in the last day or two that they won’t make it, then start unloading players?

yes, that’s my concern. (at least that’s what i’d do.) there’s no incentive for teams to trade anyone until they can guarantee they’ll be eliminated, which is much different than trade deadlines in any professional league.

sorry, i know i was vague. i’m just thinking about the trade deadline in the NHL. it’s close enough to the end of the season for teams to identify themselves as buyers/sellers, but there is still enough time for an acquired player to help his team make the playoffs or earn better seeding—as opposed to being a hired playoff gun.

Definitely agree there should be a trade deadline, and that it should be before the regular season ends.

In that spirit I’ve got a bunch of guys who could help a team for the playoff push (Thomas, Heatley, Neal, etc.) that I’d be willing to part with for picks. My team has gone into the crapper the last few weeks, and with Natty getting 8 cracks at the waiver wire this week it doesn’t look to get any better. So make an offer, it’s open season on my roster.
