The Noon Number
8 - Number of wins for the Caps in their last nine games (with the one loss coming in a shootout) against tonight's opponent, the Carolina Hurricanes, including wins in all three match-ups so far this season. The Caps have won four-straight in Raleigh (where they'll be tonight), and haven't lost in regulation there since November of 2009.

Yeah, but how many have they won with the magic jerseys?

It’s the JERSEY that makes me STRONG!

Speaking of jerseys, the hockey stick holding the hurricane flag on that Carolina alternate jersey is soooooo much better than the swirling toilet water.

As both their game this past November (and this November ‘08 game) were performances I really liked, I’m fully expecting* another 5-1 win.
*Only expecting to have Founders Imperial Stout during said game.

Which DC sports team has the Most Valuable Players? That would be DC United, a team being pushed out by the city. Help Keep United in DC so they can receive a fair deal on a lease and help develop a path to build a stadium with local investment and incentives.
They’re not jinxes, they’re facts.
Fact: Caps have won 8 of 9.
Jinx: Caps own the ’Canes and will probably never lose to them again, ever.
There’s a difference.

Hehe, I kid :) But for superstitious fans like myself, stating such facts sends us into “Oh noes” mode :)

If Alzner can resist tapping his stick 88 times (or some such superstition) before the start if the game, I can resist all jinx worries. (But I admit it’s hard to do).

I disagree there. The other day you mentioned the 420 minute stat and they promptly lost 3-0. You may as well have congratulated a starting on his potential no-hitter as he approached the mound to start the ninth. :-)
It isn’t even anger-inducing. It does not seem to be worth that kind of emotional investment. It might not even be disappointing any more. It is expected.

In fairness to me, did they or did they not extend that streak before it was snapped?

One… singular sensation
Every little step he takes.
One… thrilling combination
Every move that he makes.
One deke and suddenly goalies flop on the ice;
You know you’ll see the bright red lamp that looks so nice.
One moment in his presence
And you can forget the rest.

you would think. and that’s certainly how things operated under the previous regime. I’ve given up trying to figure out HunterLogic.

Hunter told Vokoun and Neuvirth when they got to Montreal that Neuvirth would get Montreal, Vokoun would get Carolina.
I don’t mind him telling the goalies and letting them mentally prepare themselves for their role.
Agreed. In fact, I prefer it to “win and you’re in.” But it certainly appears to be a change in philosophy.
