Why is DH going with Vokes yet again and continuing to shorten his bench every game? I know that winning now is important but a) what does this say about the rest of the squad, and b) how tired are these guys going to be in the spring? Geez.
I don’t know that he is. In fact, there are some indications that he might not be.

I wonder if Dale Hunter has addressed the team about this situation. Of all the people in that room, Dale Hunter’s view on the issue would be the most interesting and significant in my eyes.
Say what you will about the “inorganic response” or irresponsibility of such a play; but, part of me really hopes someone on the Caps beat the shit out of Bourque; with his bruised up visage in rotation on tsn, espn, nbc, and nhl network.
Soon the Championship with be ours, all ours!
Best Case Scenario:
1) Caps open up game finishing their checks on Bourque
2a) WIth under 5 gone, Hendricks applies for his Instigator Penalty and straight feeds Bourque hand sandwiches until the refs break it up.
2b) Next chance a Caps player gets, they should look for that puke in a scrum and give him the business again.
3) Caps continue game finishing checks on Bourque.
4) Caps win
With the trade and Backstrom’s injury, this little event has got a fair bit of momentum behind it. This would be a great time for the Caps to man up and show (or give the illusion) that you can’t injure our guys
Soon the Championship with be ours, all ours!
Is it a guarantee Caps come out the winner in these fights? What happens if Erskine gets caught by a lucky blow, or Hendy just scraps and nothing really comes of it?

I’m a little surprised at all of the calls for blood on Bourque. Nothing was done in the moment and the suspension has been served. I am still pissed he did it, but I’d rather get vengeance in the context of the rules, though if a fight does happen, a fourth liner in exchange for Bourque is ok in my book.
I’ve spent a lot of time trying to convert non hockey fans and its the “Make him bleed” mentality that just makes it difficult. If Bourque’s vengeance is on the mind of anyone who isn’t going to fight Bourque early, then it’s on too many minds.

I’d have made a move for a center like Brule or some other cheap Matt Cullen type. Backstrom being out only furthers the story that the Caps have no depth at center.

Yeah I was a little shocked when I saw it considering yesterday I heard he was trying to play in the game anyway so don’t know, this guy has been right about Crosby several times so he isn’t just some moron who would make things up but at the same time I haven’t seen anyone else even hint at it.
I know he got 30 stitches, but that’s about it.

Hurricanes acquire Evgenii Dadonov and A.J. Jenks from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forwards Jon Matsumoto and Mattias Lindstrom.

Looking at Lindstrom, though. Bit of a project power forward time playing for Skelleftea. Relatively young. So they got somewhat of a return.

Lindstrom’s signed to an NHL contract, too; I wasn’t sure but thought he might be so looked it up. Per eliteprospects, he’s playing with Tingsryd. Youngest player in the 4 player trade.
There were rumors a season or 2 ago that if he didnt make the club he’d return to the KHL..
He squashed them quick saying it was untrue.. but who knows, he’s getting tired of the AHL and Dineen wasn’t impressed with him

There might have been a mistake on the game sheet; couple of the beat folks said Beagle was in, originally, but then corrected to Perreault. NHL.com just missed the correction, I guess. If Perreault gets some PIMs or something I’ll bet they show up as Beagle again until they fix it.
